Three fire engines were called to a timber wagon blaze on the M6 north of Carlisle.

The fully-laden lorry caught fire near to the Todhills service station, between junctions 44 and 45 southbound.

The southbound sliproad into the services was closed as a result.

Fire crews from Carlisle West, Longtown and Gretna all attended.

They were called at 7.13am and the vehicle was well alight on arrival.

Firefighters used a specialist foam system, ladders and small tools to extinguish the blaze.

Nobody was hurt.
