A RECENT edition of The Westmorland Gazette reported on the council intending to hang growing plants on the building in Lowther Street at Kendal to offset some of the air pollution in the street.

Fine, but what about the hundreds of mature trees that are to be felled for the flood defence scheme? Surely the trees are having more effect than a few dangling vines!

The money could be better spent cleaning up the brick/stonework on the existing buildings to make Lowther Street to a least look more inviting.
