A WOMAN who holds a weekly market stall in Sedbergh has successfully raised more than £50,000 for charity.
Mary Kendal, from Grayrigg, has spent eight years raising money for The Christie Hospital in Manchester after her daughter suffered from a life threatening cancer in 2010.
From taking part in a number of car boot sales at Kendal she eventually had her own ‘bric-a-brac’ stall at Sedbergh Market where she would sell a number of items from Christmas decorations to rain coats.
Mrs Kendal said she was “constantly amazed” at the variety of goods people would bring her to sell.
In 2017, she managed to raise £30,000 just through selling items at a number of events.
Mrs Kendal has since retired from attending car boot sales but still has a stall every Wednesday at Sedbergh Market.
