TWO South Lakeland men who have worked tirelessly for their community have been awarded the British Empire Medal in recognition of their efforts.
Dr Arthur Robinson and George Welch have been honoured in the Queen's Birthday Honours list just published.
And two other men from the area were also included on the honours list.
Robert Shephard of Patterdale was awarded an OBE for his services to the environment and to the community.
Meanwhile, Professor Stephen Eames. chief executive of North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust and Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, has been made a CBE for his services to the NHS.
