COASTAL communities are being encouraged to adopt a beach ahead of this September's Great British Beach Clean.
The Marine Conservation Society says last year's event saw volunteers pick up more than 600 pieces of litter for every 100 metres of coastline surveyed. A15,000 people donned gloves and tabards clean up 494 beaches.
