A FEAST of brass band music was enjoyed by visitors to Kirkby Lonsdale on Sunday.
The annual Kirkby Lonsdale brass band contest is an eagerly anticipated event and there was a large attendance this year.
Ten bands took part from Burneside, Lancaster, Pilling, Preston, St Helens and from the host town.
The adjudicator was Andrew Warriner, a brass musician who was formerly a member of Foden's Brass Band, and is now conductor of the Junction 36 Brass Band. The compere was Roger Lincoln and John Knewstubb was the deportment judge.
The day began with Burneside Training Band who played the National Anthem prior to their programme.
The results of the contest were: Third section: 1Eccleston; 2 Pilling. Fourth section: 1Brindle; 2 Lancaster City Brass. Best march: Burneside Brass. Best soloist: Andy Pullen, Eccleston. Training band: Flixton. Best under 16 soloist: Rory Knowles of Burneside training band.
