SOUTH Lakes MP Tim Farron took to the floor of the House of Commons and urged Housing Secretary James Brokenshire to limit the rise of excessive second home ownership in his constituency.

It comes after the Resolution Foundation found that the number of British people who own a second home has doubled since 2001, while the number of millennials who own a home continues to fall.

“The Government is failing to meet the housing needs of young people in the South Lakes, whilst it ignores the simple fact that thousands of local houses are sat empty as second homes," said Mr Farron.
