There was a dramatic week of action across all six divisions in The Kendal and District Bowling League.
However, the most unexpected result saw Holme A crash to their first defeat of the season after losing 7-3 to Levens A
Holme, whose lead at the top was reduced to nine points, made a bad start when Matthew Stewart lost 21-3 to Aiden Millard, who claimed the best result for the home team.
Levens A continued to impress following Daniel Edmonds' 21-15 victory over Stephen Ashburn, while Tom Dennison edged out David Grisedale 21-19.
Holme battled back following Liam Baxter's 21-12 win over Violet Dennison, while both Mark Ashburn and Daniel Varcoe were also victorious in their respective games.
However, James Dennison’s 21-11 win against Gavin Whitehead, as well as Steve Greenways' 21-16 win over Callum Baxter sealed the points for Levens A, who remained in third place.
In the other games Division champions Victoria A moved to within nine points of the leaders after they defeated relegation-threatened Burneside A 9-1, Windermere A defeated Lindale A 8-2, while Holme B, Burton A and Hale A picked up respective 6-4 wins against Staveley A, Victoria B and Netherfield A.
Division Two leaders Netherfield B fell to a surprise 7-3 defeat to relegation-threatened Abbot Hall A, Kirkby Lonsdale A picked up an impressive 8-2 win over Burton B, Netherfield C and Levens B drew 5-5, while there were 8-2 wins for Ambleside A, Ambleside B and Subscription A, who defeated Crosthwaite A, Windermere B and Allithwaite A.
In Division Three Arnside A and Milnthorpe A picked up respective 7-3 victories at Allithwaite B and Ingleborough A, while Sedbergh A saw off Heversham A 8-2.
Allithwaite C and Lower Holker A picked up respective 6-4 wins at Holme C and Windermere C, while Victoria C defeated Endmoor A.
Netherfield D, Lower Holker B, Hawkshead, Subscription B, Burneside B and Hale B all picked up important wins in Division Four.
In Division Five the stand-out result saw Subscription C win 6-4 at Staveley B, while in Division Six there was a crucial win for Endmoor C, who won 6-4 at Milnthorpe C in the bottom-of-the-table battle.
