MILNTHORPE Corinthians made a winning start to their West Lancashire Division One campaign after they picked up two victories from two games.

On Saturday Sam Kirkby’s hat trick saw Corinthians win 3-0 at Croston Sports, while second half goals by Elliot Bousfield and Scott Singleton edged the Cors to a hard fought 2-0 win at Crooklands Casuals on Tuesday night.

Kendal County crashed to an opening day defeat, losing 3-0 at Askam United. Tony Butler edged the hosts in front on 55 minutes before Jordan Rayner's brace sealed the win for the home team.

In Division Two Kendal United made a winning start to the season after they defeated Freckleton 3-2 on Saturday before seeing off Storeys 4-0 on Tuesday night.

Goals by Dillon Hine, Mark Barnes Davies and Danny Craig saw Kendal go 3-0 up on Saturday. However late goals by Ben Ashton and James Richardson saw the visitors mounting an unlikely comeback before Kendal held out for the win.

On Tuesday Aiden Dent's brace and goals from Mark Barnes Davies and Dillon Hine saw Kendal saunter past Storeys 4-0.

Milnthorpe Corinthians travel to play Eagley, while Kendal County are away to Haslingden St Mary's on Saturday before they host Crooklands Casuals on Tuesday night.

Kendal United are away to Furness Cavaliers on Saturday before hosting Galgate on Tuesday night, while Milnthorpe Corinthians Reserves begin their season with an away game at Croston Sports Reserves.
