ONE of the area's oldest residents has celebrated her 108th birthday in style with flowers, cakes, gifts and a card from the Queen.
Lois Crake was in great form for the occasion as she marked the day surrounded by her family at the Hartland House residential care home in Milnthorpe.
Formerly a children's officer in Birkenhead, where she grew up, she later worked voluntarily for the Lancashire and Cheshire Child Adoption Council, which she chaired.
And she was joined in the celebrations by Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron, who said he was more than happy to be able to attend.
“I was delighted to join Lois and her family for her birthday celebrations," said Mr Farron.
“She is a remarkable lady and it was great to have the chance to thank her for the many years of service to families– she has made a real difference to so many people’s lives.”
