MARK Wilson made his Rugby Union World Cup bow in England's game against the USA today.

The former Kirkbie Kendal School pupil and Kendal RUFC player was named on the bench for the national team's second pool game of the tournament.

And coach Eddie Jones threw him into the fray at the break, with the player given a full 40 minutes to impress and helping his side to a 45-7 win.

Wilson, who turns 30 on October 6, began his senior career at Penrith before moving to his home town club.

He spent two seasons at Mint Bridge before joining Newcastle Falcons, and he is currently on a season long loan at Sale Sharks who he joined following the Falcons' relegation last term.
