ALGAE: At Fell Foot
BLUE Green Algae has been confirmed at a site in the Lake District.
The Environment Agency has reported the bacteria, which can be harmful to animals, in Windermere at Fell Foot.
A spokesman said: "We can confirm the presence of Blue Green Algae at Fell Foot.
"Sightings of Blue Green Algae can be reported to the Environment Agency by calling 0800 80 70 60."
Blooms of blue-green algae can produce harmful toxins which stop a dog’s liver from functioning properly.
