SUPPORTERS of St Mary's Hospice in Ulverston have generated almost £80,000 this year by saving in the charity's account with the Furness Building Society.

The building society makes an annual payment to St Mary's from its own funds - not the savers' money - which is based on the total balances in the accounts; so the more supporters save, the bigger the payment to the hospice.

Furness Building Society will make a cash payment to St Mary's Hospice each year equal to 0.50% of the average total balance held in all St Mary's Hospice Charity Accounts.

St Mary’s Hospice Area Fundraiser, Charlotte Windle explains that the donation from the Furness Building Society is a vital source of income, helping them to meet the £3.2 million which must be raised each year to fund the hospice, of which 18 per cent is funded by the NHS.

The hospice has provided care and support to those facing life shortening conditions and those that love them in South Cumbria for the last 30 years. They pride themselves on making a difference when it matters most. A
