THE Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal has been voted one of the top ten best places to visit in Britain.
The cinema, theatre and gallery complex is now keeping company with exalted attractions such as Stonehenge, Hadrian's Wall and York Minster following UKTV's Britain's Best 2007 poll to find the country's top spots with historical connections.
The Brewery came ninth in the poll - beating Alton Towers into tenth place. Stonehenge, arguably the grandfather of all Britain's heritage attractions at 5,000-years-old, topped the viewers' list, with HMS Victory and Liverpool Cathedral in second and third places respectively.
However, The Brewery wasn't the only Kendal attraction to figure in the voting. Kendal Castle was also listed in the top 100 along with two other visitor destinations in Cumbria, Levens Hall and Gardens and Muncaster Castle, near Ravenglass.
