GAZETTE readers are being encouraged to collect up their old, unwanted coats for people in need this winter.
The first ever Wrap Up South Cumbria campaign is being launched by local Rotary clubs.
People will be able to drop off coats they no longer need at nearly 40 collection sites spread around Kendal, Grange-over-Sands, Ulverston, Milnthorpe, Barrow-in-Furness and Millom.
The white collection boxes are clearly branded and you can find your nearest one by visiting the website at www.wrapupcumbria.co.uk or the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pg/WrapUpCumbriaSouth
Coats can be dropped off between Monday, October 21 and Saturday, November 9.
They will be collected by Rotary volunteers, who will then sort them and redistribute them free of charge to people such as the homeless, refugees and those living in poverty, by the end of November. No coats are sold.
Charities and community organisations will give out the winter garments, ensuring needy recipients find out about other support available.
