A NEW manager has been appointed at the Royalty Cinema in Bowness.
Marilyn Appleby will take on the role following from Barbara Smith.
Mrs Appleby, who lives with her husband Michael in Morecambe has spent her career in cinema management and was trained by the ABC cinema chain.
Her last role was as the manager of the Regal cinema in Lancaster, which was another of the cinemas operated by the Royalty's proprietor, Charles Morris.
Mr Morris said of the appointment: "I am delighted that Marilyn has accepted the position at the Royalty.
"She did a first-class job at Lancaster and I am looking forward to her applying her many skills in Bowness."
Mrs Appleby said: "I am so pleased to be back in cinemas again. I think the Royalty is a lovely cinema, the staff are very keen and I very much look forward to getting to know the patrons.
"It is very different from Lancaster. There we had a lot of students but here the audience is much more local with more families plus a lot of visitors at holiday times. I hope to provide a cinema which will suit all tastes."
