FESTIVE crafts and home-made produce stalls raised more than £1,000 for the charity CancerCare at its annual Christmas coffee morning at Silverdale.

Helen Martin, who helped organise the event at the village's Gaskell Hall, said: “It was lovely to see the community coming together to support CancerCare and we had more than 120 people through the doors in two hours.

“I would like to thank all the volunteers who helped by looking after stalls and serving refreshments, not to mention the local businesses who kindly donated raffle prizes. Everyone’s generous support combined to make the event a huge success.”

Meanwhile, a CancerCare coffee morning held at Ambleside's Kelsick Centre raised £1,225. Organiser Sheila Lang said the event had been a great success and they had already started planning next year’s event.
