A VERY big well done to all of the wonderful KS2 pupils at the primary school for putting on such spectacular performances of Annie! Also, a big thank-you to the amazing families and audience for all of their support, and to the PTA for organising refreshments and the raffle.

CLASS 3 were treated to a fantastic afternoon of Turner-inspired fun with the lovely Emma and Natasha from Lakeland Arts. They learned that many of Turner's paintings were made accessible to ordinary people by being made into etchings. They were able to look at and practice some techniques for effective mark-making, then used these skills to create their own drypoint etchings which are to be displayed in the Windermere Jetty Museum as part of an exhibition. The results were stunning and the children were completely absorbed!

THE school will be holding its carol service tomorrow (Friday) at 1.15pm in the church. Everyone is very welcome to this special service.

THERE will be carol singing at Oxenholme Railway Station tomorrow (Friday) from 5pm to 6.30pm, with a Salvation Army band. Everyone is very welcome.

THERE will also be carol singing around the tree outside the Public Hall on Sunday at 7.30pm with musical accompaniment, with free mulled wine and mince pies available for all. It is hoped to make this an annual event. In the event of rain the event will be transferred indoors. The tree has been very kindly donated to the village by Nik Vandzhyra.

A CRIB service will take place in the church at 4pm on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Communion at 11.30pm on the same day. There will be a Helm Group service at Crosscrake Church on Sunday, December 29 at 10am.

MEMBERS of the WI held a Christmas meal at the Crooklands Hotel followed by a quiz. The following week they made door wreaths and bottle lights. Some members attended a festival of readings and carols in Kendal Parish Church, arranged by the federation.

WI EVENTS for the coming year include tree-planting at Holehird Gardens, and afternoon tea with a fashion show at Grange-over-Sands. The next meeting takes place at 7.30pm on Tuesday, January 14 in the Public Hall, when members will learn about 'the wonder of wax'.
