FOUNDER of the Buddhist Group of Kendal marked her entry into a prestigious publication of genealogical and heraldic interest by conducting a blessing ceremony for Mayor Gwen Murfin.
In recognition of her work, Jacquetta Gomes, who is also a teacher of Theravada Buddhism, was included in the Burke's Landed Gentry 19th Edition Volume III for the North West of England, as a contemporary person of distinction.
To celebrate her achievement, Coun Murfin requested that a blessing ceremony should be conducted for the Mayor's Parlour in Pali, the language spoken by the Buddha.
An Osmanthus Burkwoodii bush has also been planted in the Multifaith Memorial Garden at the Unitarian Chapel to mark the occasion.
