A CHARITY for Raynaud sufferers is organising a campaign for online awareness through February.

This month marks Raynaud’s awareness month, during which Scleroderma and Raynaud’s UK (SRUK) is asking the public to take part in their online test to spread a better understanding of the condition.

The charity will also arrange fund raisers for suffers of Raynaud and their families.

SRUK released a statement saying: “Every year we ask supporters to organise a Cosy Up with a Coffee event to raise funds for SRUK. What better way to spend a cold February day than with a warm drink and cake, chatting with friends, colleagues, neighbours or family, to get to #KnowRaynauds, and raise vital funds to support SRUK”.

Suffers can experience discolouring of their fingers and toes due to over-sensitivity of small blood vessels to even the slightest changes in temperatures and periods of rising stress levels.

An attack of Raynaud can cause the skin to change colour to red, blue, white and even black.

Raynaud is a common condition which is thought to affect up to ten million people in the UK alone.

SRUK campaign organiser, Siobhan Hollis said: “It’s a real team effort. My daughter spends hours creating a showstopper cake, and we ask local businesses to donate raffle prizes. It’s a great opportunity to bring together family and friends and shine a spotlight on Raynaud’s and scleroderma.”
