THREE rising judo stars from Oceania, Guam and Fiji will be spending the next month under the watchful eye of Kendal Judo Club's senior coach, Mike Liptrot.

Ahead of the Olympic Games later this year, the club in Kendal is once again helping train players on their way to the competition.

Mike will help the young stars get accustomed to the rules and conventions of European-style judo.

23-year-old Tevita Takayawa from Seva, Fiji, was named the 2017 Junior and 2018 Senior Fijian Judo Champion.

The two players from Guam, twenty-one-year-old Joshter Andrew and eighteen-year-old Maria Escano.

Mike has already taken the three players around some of the top judo clubs in the North West.

He will also be taking the talented youngsters to the French Open Championships, as well as to the Dusseldorf Open.

These competitions are vital to ensure the youngsters collect enough qualifying points in order to compete at the Olympic Games, which will be held in Japan this summer.

Aside from her judo accomplishments, can speak five languages - English, Korean, Russian, Spanish and Japanese - and has a highly sought-after place at the Sendai University.
