CUMBRIA Tourism has called for clarity and guidance during the coronavirus crisis.
The organisation released a statement on its website urging the Government to further clarify its policies and solutions towards the pandemic.
“Cumbria Tourism is seeking urgent clarification around the Government’s latest measures to tackle coronavirus, specifically the practical measures being taken to support tourism businesses at this anxious and challenging time," it said.
“Our £3bn tourism industry supports 65,000 jobs and we have been liaising overnight with the DCMS (Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport), Visit England and the Tourism Alliance to escalate our urgent concerns around the implications of the non-essential travel ban and advice to avoid pubs, restaurants and theatres. We need the Government to be much clearer in its communications with businesses and to clarify the financial support available NOW”.
