MORRISONS has introduced an 'NHS hour' at all of its stores at the beginning of each day with demand surging amid the coronavirus outbreak.

From 7am to 8am between Monday and Saturday National Health Service workers alone will be let into stores upon showing their badges at the door.

David Potts, chief executive of Morrisons, said: "Many NHS workers have said that they are struggling to buy the products they need at the beginning or the end of their shifts, as supermarkets have seen unprecedented demand."

Opening hours for all other customers are 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, stores will be open as usual.
