A RUNNER called rescuers after falling and sustaining a cut on Loughrigg Fell near Ambleside yesterday evening.

Langdale/Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (LAMRT) was called out at around 9pm.

An LAMRT spokesman said the man, who was stuck on steep ground, was "vague about his location". However, while rescuers tried to reach him, the casualty "decided he could self-rescue and did so."

The incident involved four LAMRT team members.
