WOMEN'S refuges, foodbanks, hospices, homeless charities, social isolation groups, schools, charities supporting the elderly and local authorities can all bid for cash from a supermarket giant
Tesco has announced a £30m package of support to help local communities tackle the coronavirus outbreak.
The retail chain's COVID-19 Community Fund will pay for £500 grants available to groups across Cumbria.
Tesco will provide an additional top up food donation of £15m of food to hunger charity FareShare and foodbank owners the Trussell Trust – food they need for distribution to community groups and food banks.
Both organisations thanked Tesco for the donation.
The supermarket chain will also donate £1m between the two organisations to support their continuing operations
The retailer will focus £2m of funding from its existing Bags of Help community donation scheme to charities that are helping the most vulnerable.
