NATIONAL park bosses are urging the public to take extra precautions when walking on public footpaths.
Signs have been put up on paths within the Lake District National Park Authority asking walkers to stay away from farms.
Maria Benjamin from Nibthwaite Grange Farm said: “It’s a busy, stressful time on the farm with lambing and calving and farmers don’t need the additional worry of contamination to gates and property. Please avoid farmyards and rural homes when exercising."
