Hey everyone from a visitor-less safari zoo!

A reduced but super-dedicated team continue to be on hand to provide the residents with the care and attention they need and deserve.

We’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of support received.

A special thank you to Laings fruit and veg, Fareshare Lancashire & Cumbria, Lucidity Group, Masons Butchers and catering, Marks & Spencer’s Barrow and Cooperative Stores Barrow & Dalton for their continued support of regular donations of fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. A huge thank you to those who continue to sponsor meals for the animals, purchase e-doptions, open dated tickets and memberships for when we reopen.

A very special thank you to local lady Vivien Hamilton who has been coordinating collections from individuals too (and of course thank you to everyone who has donated via Vivien).

And finally a massive thank you to local artist Jean Pritchard who kindly donated her original painting of Wolfgang and Kadi valued at £1,400 which we were able to raffle (tickets selling out within 24 hours) and raise vital funds to keep us going through lockdown.

Now onto the animals!

We’ve heard the pitter patter of tiny paws in our lemur houses with the arrival of 13, yes THIRTEEN, Ring tail lemur babies! Five sets of twins to mums Primrose, Pixie, Fifi, Iris, Oakley and single babies for mums Elsie, Trudy and Catniss.

Pixie was the first momma to give birth this year; having twins for the fourth year in a row!

Kordofan giraffe Eller celebrated her third birthday in lockdown with a willow/hawthorn treat wound into a three inch honour of her age.

Eller lives with mum Gaya and the rest of the tower in our Africa house. Happy birthday beautiful girl!
