Grasmere Gingerbread are sending out 200 parcels of confectionary to hospital wards, nursing homes, paramedics, social care staff and other key workers who are fighting the pandemic.
After a asking for suggestions of who might enjoy a treat during their tea break, suggestions poured in.
Joanne Hunter, co-director of Grasmere Gingerbread, said: "Some of the nominations were heartfelt and really moving, often from people with relatives or friends working directly with Covid-19 patients."
The Grasmere Gingerbread shop is currently closed to public and due to health and and safety guidelines only the bakery manager works in the kitchen producing a restricted supply of Grasmere Gingerbread to post to customers. All recipients have been grateful with some saying it boosted morale and others were "chuffed to be recognised."
