AN AMBLESIDE chef is among the winners of the 34th Acorn Awards.

The hospitality industry magazine The Caterer announced the recipients of the award earlier this week.

This year’s list of rising stars includes head chef at Rothay Manor, Dan McGeorge from Ambleside.

Dan said: “I am hugely proud that I’ve been selected as one of this year’s 30. I have had some exceptional career highlights but this one is right up there. I am looking forward to meeting my peers.”

Every year the prestigious Acorn Awards highlight and celebrate the achievements of 30 of the industry’s brightest stars, recognising each individual award winner’s outstanding ability and success in their respective field within the industry.

Dan will now join the cast of previous recipients who have won an award since the inaugural event in 1986.

Due to COVID-19, Dan and his fellow 2020 Acorn Award recipients will collect their awards at a prize-giving event at South Lodge hotel in Horsham at a date to be confirmed later this year.
