COUNCIL bulk waste collections are to be re-introduced in a limited form in South Lakeland for large household items.

This particular bulk service was suspended in March but now Right2Work will be available for collections of large household items such as electrical goods and furniture. The only restrictions are collections will only be possible outside of homes, operatives will not be entering properties nor collect from homes where the owner has been isolating for the past two weeks. Collections will be from Monday to Friday, however due to access restrictions at Kendal Fell waste transfer station there won’t be an option for evening or Saturday collections.

Councillor Eric Morrell, South Lakeland District Council’s portfolio holder for customer and commercial services, said: “We understand that the postponement of bulky waste collections in South Lakeland has been inconvenient for residents but it was the right thing to do as part of the coronavirus lockdown."

Bookings can be made on 01539 733 333 from Monday.
