A 72-YEAR-old walker who tried to 'bypass the barrier' to a North Yorkshire tourist trail was rescued after he slipped and fell.
A Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) spokesman said the man had 'travelled by train and taxi' to follow the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail on Saturday but, finding it closed, tried to circumvent the barrier.
The spokesman said: "In a field across the river from the trail entrance, he slipped and fell.
"Perhaps because of one of his medical conditions, he was reported to be experiencing breathing difficulty."
Yorkshire Ambulance Service asked for assistance from the CRO team in locating the man at around 11.45am.
After paramedics had completed their assesment, CRO team members evacuated the man to an ambulance waiting on Oddie's Lane.
