A SOUTH Lakes young farmer took home first place in an online national cooking competition by producing a meal which championed seasonal British produce.
Ruth Cooper, of Lowick Young Farmers' Club, was competing in the National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs 'Ready Steady Cook' competition, based on the popular television show.
Ruth was tasked with producing a high-quality meal using all of the ingredients - British lamb, asparagus and eggs - contained in a bag which she chose from a selection of two.
Ruth made lamb stroganoff, serving it with egg-fried rice and steamed asparagus.
It has been a busy time for Ruth, who last Thursday took part in a 'webinar', organised by Rural Youth Europe, discussing the efforts of rural youth organisations across Europe during the coronavirus pandemic.
