A man who went missing whilst on a walk in the Howgill Fells has sadly been found dead.
Cumbria Police confirmed that a body was found on Thursday morning.
A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 8.20pm Wednesday evening (June 24) with a report of a missing person in the area of Howgill Fells.
"The body of a man in his 70’s was found at approximately 8.30 yesterday morning (June 25).
"The death is not believed to be suspicious."
The man had been reported missing after failing to return home after a walk in the Howgill Fells.
A mountain rescue team and helicopter searched through the night for the man.
The unsuccessful search only found the man's car.
