A POLICE investigation has been launched into the theft of two high/top-of-the-range mountain bikes and attempted burglary at a Kendal property.

Officers are probing the theft and associated attempted burglary, which occurred in the Queen Katherine street area sometime between 11pm on Tuesday June 30 and 8:30am on Wednesday July 1.

The unknown offenders are thought to have first attempted to gain access to a number of sheds and outbuildings.

Then, before accessing a shed and taking two bicycles - worth several thousands of pounds overall.

The mountain bikes are understood to be: a slate-blue-grey Calibre Triple B; and a Cube AMS 120 29er in grey, black and white.

Together, the bikes' estimated value comes to around £3,000 if bought new.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious activity, or residents of the area with any CCTV footage that may assist in identifying the offenders, to contact PC 2677 on 101 quoting log 34 of July 1
