An old style sign, lettered by this quiz setter in the entrance to Old Shambles. It is a copy of an old sign in disrepair, with “premises” on two different lines, exactly as the original had been. Old Shambles built in 1779 used to contain almost forty butchers shops. They were later relocated to the New Shambles due to the poor drainage here not being up to the required standard.
