PERMISSION for renovation of a Grade II listed building in Underbarrow has been granted by The Lake District National Park Authority.

The application site comprises a residential property known as Tullythwaite House. The property comprises a grade II listed house and a detached former coach house and 0.8 acres of private land with various small outbuildings.

The House was constructed late 18th/early 19th Century. The former Coach House was constructed in the mid-19th Century and is located within the curtilage of the listed building and is, therefore, considered to be curtilage listed. There is a former barn to the east of the access drive which is under separate ownership.

Listed Building Consent is sought for alterations to the House and former Coach House and extension of driveway and construction of a detached garage and workshop within the garden to the rear.

The proposed alterations to the house include:

Internally:

- infilling of two doorways at ground-floor level; and

- insertion of partition walls and infilling of existing doorways to create a new bedroom and en-suites layout at first-floor level.

Externally:

- replacement of two existing windows with doorways at ground-floor level on the northern elevation;

- insertion of a two new windows at ground-floor level on the northern elevation;

- demolition of lean-to on the eastern elevation and replace with pitched-roof single-storey extension, measuring approximately 2.5 metres by five metres by

3.5 metres in height to ridge; and

- insertion of a window at ground-floor level on the western elevation.

The proposed alterations to the coach house include:

Internally:

- insertion of partitions to create a bedroom.

Externally:

- the demolition of half of lean-to workshop;

- Insertion of window and infilling of doorway on eastern elevation;

- Reposition two windows on west elevation;

- Replace existing window with patio doors on northern elevation.
