Q What is the latest guidance on coronavirus - I see it changing quite often?

A. The medical advice regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) has not changed dramatically.

If you have recently experienced of any of the following: a new continuous cough; a high temperature; a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia).

You then need to get tested and immediately self isolate until you have the results of a test.

Ring 119 or go online to book a test, or order a home swabbing kit.

It is important that you do not go out - particularly not to hospital or other healthcare premises as you risk spreading the disaese.

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

However, if you have any of the symptoms above you must stay at home and arrange to have a test to see if you have COVID-19.

If you are getting a test because you have symptoms, you and anyone you live with must stay at home until you get your result.

Anyone in your support bubble must also stay at home.

When you get your test result, you will receive a text or email when your result is ready.

Most people get their test results the day after taking the test. Some results might take longer, but you should get them in 72 hours.

There are three types of result you can get: negative; positive; unclear, void, borderline or inconclusive.

If you do not get your result, call the coronavirus testing contact centre on 119 (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or 0300 303 2713 (Scotland). The contact centre is open from 7am to 11pm.
