THESE two gables are on the top of a building in Highgate which is currently being used by a national supermarket. It was originally two separate shops, one being Wilson’s printers where Kendal’s first newspaper Kendal Courant was established in1731. The other, Ireland’s the tobacconists, which was the first shop in Kendal to install electric lighting. This building is most famous for being the home of the local printers Titus Wilson.
