THE ORTON Farmer’s Market is setting off to Shap for this year’s popular trading event.
Shap will host the Orton Farmers’ Market which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 14, in the Memorial Hall car park from 9am until 2pm.
As required by COVID-19 restrictions, the Market will be focusing on food producers, including Fat Flour Bakery, Deer ‘n’ Dexter meats, Knipey’s poultry and Winter Tarn butter and cheese.
Leanne Duerden, Market Co-ordinator said: “With Orton Market Hall closed for the November lockdown and the space constraints in the centre of the village, we were struggling to make things work safely and to reassure everyone.
“Our producers needed something to happen if at all possible.
“We’re delighted to have arranged with Shap Parish Council to hold a farmers’ market based in the Memorial Hall car park on our usual Saturday and hope that as many of our regular shoppers as possible will be able to support local producers in tough times.”
Signposting will be laid out for the market on Junction 39 of the M6.
