South Lakeland District Council ( SLDC) has encouraged residents not to leave large amounts of cardboard outside their homes.
The advice comes after the council admitted they expect to see a rise in the amount of cardboard to be disposed of in the run-up to Christmas.
An SLDC spokesman said: "We are anticipating an increase in cardboard in the run-up to Christmas and we are encouraging residents to consider the amount placed at the kerbside.
"Please flatten boxes to fit in your blue box or take them to a Household Waste Recycling Centre as part of an essential journey."
