A FUNDRAISER is being organised to support survivors of domestic abuse.

Sarah Hogg, 34, a mother of two from Sedbergh, will be running a 268-mile non-stop race up the Pennine Way. Her challenge is scheduled to start on June 19, 2021.

Sarah said: “The 268 mile race is a non-stop route up the Pennine Way. I was looking for a challenge, and this one seems very challenging to me.

“I wanted to do the summer spine race because I love being in the mountains and have been really inspired by the performances of female athletes like Sabrina Verjee and Jasmin Paris on the course.

"I know that however hard it’s going to get during the race, it’ll be nothing compared to what children and women are going through during and after surviving domestic abuse.

“So many survivors are effectively silenced, and I hope that by doing the run I can shine some light on this really important issue.

"I heard about the challenge about a year ago and always thought anyone who did them must be crazy. Then I got the idea to do it yourself.

“It’s a huge challenge and I really want to push myself.

“I run a non-profit organisation called True North Yoga who offer support for survivors of domestic abuse, especially in Cumbria. I set up the business about a year ago and we offer sensitive yoga for survivors of abuse with complex PSTD.”

Sarah is using the fundraise to support the work of Victoria Hudson and the Cumbria Justice for Family Court Children, who are campaigning to raise funds for both local and national domestic abuse charities and organisations that help victims.

Victoria has worked with Women’s Aid and the Ministry of Justice and is currently working with Women’s Aid to find justice for women and children struggling through the family Court system.
