POLICE searching for a teenager who went missing after leaving a party have found a body.

James Macadam, 19, of Carnforth, went missing on the morning of New Year's Day.

A Morecambe Area Police spokesman said a body had been found on land near the Trimpell Sports and Social Club in Morecambe.

The spokesman said: "Formal identification has not yet taken place.

"James’ family have been informed of the development and are being supported at this time. Our thoughts are with them.

"We would like to thank all those in the community who assisted with our search."

Mr Macadam left his home address in Carnforth at around 10pm on December 31 to head to a party on Lancaster's Marsh estate.

In an appeal earlier today, a police spokesman said: "Following the party, he got a taxi with friends but was dropped off on Christie Avenue in Morecambe at about 6am.

"He walked from the taxi in the direction of Ennerdale."

The spokesman said Mr Macadam had not been seen since this time.
