CUMBRIA and Lancashire Health bosses are delighted that invitations have gone out for people to attend the new NHS vaccination centre in Blackburn.

Hundreds of people, aged 80 and over, will be offered a chance to book a Covid vaccination at a new large scale centre in Blackburn Cathedral.

Those living within 45 minutes of the site, and who haven’t already been vaccinated, will receive an invitation from the NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Booking Service.

Jane Scattergood, Covid-19 Vaccination Director for Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System, said: “As the expansion of the Covid-19 vaccination programme continues to gather pace, we are delighted that Blackburn Cathedral will be used as a large vaccination centre.

“We are planning for more vaccination centres to go live across the Lancashire and South Cumbria county’s over the next few weeks."

People driving into Blackburn to get their coronavirus vaccination at Blackburn Cathedral will be able to park for free in Council-owned car parks at Weir Street and Penny Street, Blackburn.
