True history is captured in today's gallery.
The year 1963 is remembered for a host of reasons, be it for the assassination of President Kennedy or the rise of four-piece rock and roll band The Beatles to superstardom.
The city of Carlisle was right at he centre of the Beatlemania craze and, in today's gallery we can see evidence of changing societal attitudes as women joined the police force in larger numbers.
The fun of yesteryear can also be seen in these photographs with youngsters sledging as well as on their way to see Carlisle United play away from home.
If you have any memories of this era, please do let us know.
We would love to hear from you!
