A COTTAGE in the Lake District has sold for nearly £200,000 more than its guide price at auction.
Waterhead Range Cottage in Ambleside was sold for £493,000 by Auction House Cumbria.
The Lake Road property had been listed with a guide of £297,000 ahead of the auction.
A listing for the property described it as: "Four bedroom substantial property in need of full refurbishment.
"Located in the popular town of Ambleside, the property comprises: porch, lounge, kitchen, utility and garage to the ground floor, four bedrooms and bathroom to the first floor.
"Outside are two outhouses/stores, steps leading to the rear of the property and driveway."
Also sold at the auction was a property in Ackenthwaite near Milnthorpe.
The three-bedroom cottage sold for £296,0000, £96,000 over its guide price.
"Located in the popular hamlet of Ackenthwaite, the cottage retains some original features and benefits from double glazing and gas central heating," a catalogue listing for the house said.
