Earlier this week, Prime Minister announced a ‘roadmap’ out of lockdown.

In the conference, Boris Johnson outlined some key dates to be aware of in the path to reopening the country and (hopefully) putting the pandemic behind us.

One of those announcements involved schools and when they can reopen.

All pupils in England’s schools are expected to return to class from March 8.

Boris also announced that a £700m ‘catch up fund’ will be introduced to support teachers and pupils when they return to the classroom.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">When schools re-open on 8 March, I want to make sure no child is left behind as a result of the learning they have lost over the past year.<br><br>A new £700m package of catch-up funding will help teachers support their pupils as they return to the classroom.<a href="https://t.co/SX37ryPipF">https://t.co/SX37ryPipF</a></p>— Boris Johnson (@BorisJohnson) <a href="https://twitter.com/BorisJohnson/status/1364482039458770944?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 24, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

While some homeschooling parents might be jubilant at the announcement, others are apprehensive and think it’s too soon to reopen.

We asked our readers what they thought of the announcement- here is what you had to say:

Sue Layfield thinks the government should introduce staggered starts.

She added: “All staff should be given vaccine and any testing for pupils should be done at school under proper supervision.”

Christine said: “ I think it should be staggered with year 11s hoing back first because its exam year for them. All go back after Easter.”

David Thomson also thinks schools should not all be opened simultaneously.
He said: “The school should not all be opened at the same time for all ages.

“It's ridiculous that everybody will leave home use public transport going to their local communities supermarkets etc and spread the virus.

“We will be back to square one within two or three months… this is not acceptable”

Ross Thomasson simply stated: “What could possibly go wrong?”

Do you think it’s too early for kids to go back to school?
