THE actions of a Kendal man have again been condemned after he videoed himself 'surfing' a moving train.

Kain Hogg recorded himself standing on the coupling between two carriages and climbing up to look over the top.

His actions, which were undertaken on a train in the Liverpool area, have been derided by the British Transport Police (BTP).

It is not the first time the 21-year-old has been criticised for 'train-surfing', with a similar stunt earlier this year being called 'remarkably stupid' by the BTP.

On the most recent incident, BTP Chief Inspector Dave Rams said: “Officers are aware of a video on social media showing a man ‘train-surfing’ on a train in Merseyside and are currently investigating.

"So-called ‘train-surfing’ is incredibly dangerous and can very easily result in death or serious injury.

"It is beyond comprehension that someone would risk their life in this way for a social media video."

Merseyrail was also critical of the stunt, with Greg Suligowski, head of communications, saying: “It is extremely concerning to see this video which appears to show an individual trespassing on the railway, placing themselves and others at significant risk.

“We will be working closely with the BTP to identify those involved so that appropriate action can be taken.

“The non-public areas of the railway can be a very dangerous environment and I would urge people not to attempt to access them under any circumstances.”

At the beginning of the video of the stunt, published online, Mr Hogg says: "Today we're going to be train surfing, which I've been wanting to do for a while.

"We might not get on top but we're going to get in the middle, see what happens basically."

In the video, Mr Hogg is seen crouching to hide from train staff.

He exits through an emergency door at the end of the carriage to stand on a coupling.

He says: "It's a bit random. I didn't know I was train surfing today.

"There's a lot of sparks."

He filmed and took pictures of the solo escapade using a selfie stick.

The clip shows him re-entering the carriage but later returning to stand on the coupling again.

At the end of the video, he describes the stunt as 'sketchy', saying he slipped.
