HERE are the latest announcements from our community news correspondent Mary Allcock for Crook.

The April meeting of Crook WI was held on the birthday of the poet William Wordsworth.

Using Zoom, there was a "virtual" guided walk around Dove Cottage which was interspersed by readings from the diary of Dorothy Wordsworth.

The cottage has recently been re-imagined so that we were able to get a feel of how life must have been in times gone by.

When the lockdown restrictions are eased then it will be possible to visit Dove Cottage again and follow up on this interesting talk.

It was very encouraging to have a supportive congregation for the Easter Day communion service at St. Catherine's, Crook.

The service was led by Rev David Parsons and the sermon was given by Rev. George Briggs.

It is hoped to resume the normal pattern of Sunday services by the beginning of May

Many people remark on the lovely displays of roadside daffodils which are looking at their best at present.

Many of these were planted a long time ago by residents in the village.

Funds for purchase of the bulbs were raised by popular dances and events held in the Memorial Hall.

As had been planned, these daffodils continue to give pleasure each year.
