The Premier Inn website was last updated on April 8.

A spokesman said: "We’re regularly reviewing our policies to ensure they align with government guidance and we’ll be contacting any guests with a booking during the current period of restrictions. Please bear with us during this busy time."

The latest information states: "England – In line with the latest government restrictions, guests with bookings for work, education or other legally permitted reasons can still stay with us before 17 May.

"However, we’re unable to accommodate stays for leisure purposes until after this date. Please check that you meet the criteria set by the government and are eligible to stay before arrival.

"Any guests with bookings up to 16 May can now amend or cancel their stay via the ‘manage booking’ tool on our website."

Safety

"The safety of our guests and team members is our number one priority. That's why we’ve implemented extra precautions as part of our Premier Inn CleanProtect promise to ensure all our hotels are clean, safe, and adhere to the latest government guidance," the website continues.

Premier Inn restaurants

The website states: "We plan to reopen all our restaurants across England from 17 May.

"From 12 April, however, we will be opening a number of our restaurants with gardens for outdoor meals only.

"Please note that breakfast will not be available during this time. To check if a restaurant will be open for garden service, please visit our individual hotel pages for more information."
