A SOUTH Lakeland town played its part in a popular BBC crime thriller.
Windermere had a role to play in a nailbiting action scene in BBC One's Line of Duty.
The town was used a codename for a protected prisoner who came under fire from members of an organised crime gang in latest episode of the series.
A police convoy containing protected witness Jimmy Lakewell was ambushed in an action-packed scene of the hit show.
Anti-corruption detective Steve Arnott was heard calling for help over police radio during the stand-off.
He said: "Under fire from sniper. Target Windermere. Target is Windermere."
DI Arnott, played by Martin Compston and DC Chloe Bishop (Shalom Brune-Franklin) had a scheme to grab Jimmy Lakewell from Blackthorn Prison and take him to a police station to give evidence against the crime gang.
The show features anti-corruption unit AC-12 as it attempts to track down officers colluding with criminals.
